Built with reclaimed timber and materials from the mainland, the resort’s design and architecture reiterates our commitment to sustainability. Each villa is a private sanctuary, a refined blend of thatched roofs, linen-draped canopy beds, up-cycled décor and repurposed furniture. Discarded oil drums find new life as lamps. Driftwood serves as a table or bench. Salvaged wood from old fishing boats and factory yards now forms decks and floors and beams.

Their culinary practice is proudly based on locally sourced ingredients: seasonal fruits and vegetables, wildlife-friendly Ibis rice from farmers in the North, fleshy cashew nuts and meaty coconuts from nearby villages. Then there’s the distinctive favour of Kampot pepper infusing our cuisine with a truly local culinary twist. They will happily to cater to guests with dietary restrictions and their vegan and vegetarian dishes are some of the tastiest.

The ‘spa with no walls’ is not your everyday spa centre – it’s actually made up of little ‘sanctuaries’ dotted across the island, where treatments take place nestled in nature.

The spa philosophy embraces the Buddhist tradition of metta bhavana – the cultivation of loving-kindness. They also believe in the Buddhist practice of respecting all beings and offering blessings to others. For this reason, you’ll see the spa menu is divided into three themes: stillness, healing and blessings.

Song Saa Sanctuaries practitioners include traditional Khmer therapists, internationally trained wellbeing experts, yogis, reiki masters and meditation gurus. Experienced in local rituals and natural ingredients, as well as modern treatments, they are skilled in a wide range of therapies, from the ancient to the innovative. Each visit begins with a private spa consultation session with the Head of Welbeing to devise a tailored programme that comprises spa therapies, nutrition and activities.

The spa products are also derived from nature, created with wild local ingredients by Cambodia’s best artisans.

At Song Saa Private Island, their ‘wellness’ offering extends beyond massage and yoga. It’s their opinion that wellbeing is achieved through balance.
